Parent FAQ
If I register now for 2026, can my child begin this fall?
Scouts Canada registration follows the calendar year (Jan. 1–Dec. 31). When you register for the 2026 year, your child’s membership covers that period and lets them begin right away in Fall 2025 with their section.
How much does it cost?
The annual Scouts Canada membership fee is $277 (2025–26). The 56th Toronto Scouts does not add any extra group fees. Camp and outing costs are additional but kept affordable, with fundraising helping offset expenses.
What uniform does my child need?
Each section (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers) has a simple uniform available through Scouts Canada’s online store. Leaders will guide you on what to buy. Neckerchiefs are provided by the 56th Toronto Scouts.
What if my family can’t afford the fee?
We follow a No One Left Behind model. Financial assistance is available so that every child can participate, regardless of family circumstances.
When and where are meetings held?
Each Section holds weekly meetings at either Melrose Community Church or Glenview Presbyterian Church. Specific days and times can be found on our Programs page.
Do parents need to volunteer?
Parents aren’t required to volunteer, but we always welcome extra help. Whether it’s leading a section, joining the Group Committee, or supporting fundraisers, volunteers play a huge role in keeping Scouting strong. If you’re interested, visit our Volunteer page.
