Cubs
Ages 8-10
Meetings
Cubs meet weekly at Melrose Community Church for 90 minutes of games, projects, and rotating stations. Youth learn practical skills like first aid while building confidence, independence, and friendships.
STEM and Crafts
Cubs take on fun challenges like building and racing Kub Kars, testing egg drops, designing marshmallow towers, balloon cars, and bottle rockets. These projects spark creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork in every youth.
Camping
Cubs embark on 3–5 camps each year around the GTHA, including winter camp. Adventures feature geo-caching, obstacle courses, cooking, and campfires — giving youth a real taste of outdoor Scouting life.
Fundraising
Cubs are a central part of group fundraisers like Apple Day, Christmas Tree sales, and the Fert ’n’ Dirt soil fundraiser, learning teamwork and community spirit while helping fund camps and activities.
Hiking / Outings
Cubs explore the world through night hikes, visits to places like the Kortright Centre and Botanical Gardens, community clean-ups, and even subway scavenger hunts — adventures that build curiosity and teamwork.
Games
Cubs enjoy active games indoors and outdoors at meetings, camps, and outings — from teamwork challenges and classic Scouting games to exciting activities like rock climbing that build skills and friendships.

No One Left Behind
The 56th will not turn away any youth wishing to be a part of Scouting due to financial constraints. Please contact the group if you are in this situation.
